Byron Bay weddings, Gold Coast weddings and beyond; eatdrink catering prepares for a restart

Thanks to Covid it looks like the new normal may be set for a rewrite as Australia takes steps to return to business. What does this mean for the wedding industry, and in particular wedding catering on the Gold Coast for a Byron bay caterer?

I’m having lots of conversations with industry peers, existing clients and couples exploring the possibility of having a wedding in the not too distant future. There’s no doubt that things are moving toward the new normal quicker than anticipated, albeit with some uncertainty as to what the reality of this may actually look like.

Unfortunately it feels like the wedding industry may be one of the last cabs off the rank back into business – large events held in private spaces with no means to monitor social distancing means a big question mark.

However the general consensus is that the NSW state government is entrusting its people to intelligently, safely restart and with Covid now feeling more manageable, focus is more toward resurrection of the economy.

Our personal experience showed a flurry of postponements as our industry closed on Autumn and Winter weddings. Most have rebooked for the same time next year and August still has a few weddings sitting tight in the hope they will realise, with September remaining busy.

New enquiries for both this year and next are now rolling back in, and most of our clients are feeling comfortable in the knowledge that they can book now and change dates with their vendors down the track if need be.

We’re also seeing an increase in interest for our Wedding catering services on the Gold Coast.

Despite QLD keeping its NSW border closed for general crossings, there is an understanding that essential business continues between the states, and citizens of border towns such as Byron and Gold coast can easily gain an access pass.

Eatdrink has recently crossed the border to visit  venues and couples planning their Gold Coast Wedding catering and office catering.

This means for couples feeling unsure, we suggest you can continue to plan your wedding catering for later in the year or the next, safe in the knowledge that there is a general confidence amongst the industry. And an option to change dates if need be.

We may be returning to a new normal, but there’s nothing new about everybody’s need for an old fashioned celebration of love with friends & family. And Eatdrink will write a perfect wedding catering menu tailored to each and every celebration. The return of Byron Bay weddings, Gold coast weddings and celebrations beyond is Cause Celebre for us all.
